Begin in the town centre
Over breakfast, choose one priority: spending time at the shore or exploring the old settlement? A short walk in the centre followed by a lakeside visit helps put the town in context. This is a suggested sequence, not a fixed itinerary; reverse it if that better suits your accommodation and transport.
Choose one historic stop
The old settlement and cemetery at Çelebibağı offer one way to think about the town’s past. If monumental tomb architecture interests you, choose Kadem Paşa Hatun Tomb instead. Give one place time rather than collecting every historic site in a single day.
Remember that a cemetery is also a place of remembrance. Follow existing routes between the graves and avoid leaning against stones to read or photograph them.
Make room for lunch
Ask what is available that day before choosing a meal. Trying a dish you are curious about, such as salted fish or ayran aşı, can be more rewarding than ordering a long list. Do not assume every restaurant serves every regional speciality. Learn what the dish is called and what people pair it with.
Adapt the day to the season
If watching the fish migration is your priority, allow more time at Balık Bendi and save the historic stop for another day. With children, plan more breaks; without a car, two stops may be enough.
Akdamar, Nemrut and Muradiye belong to separate outings beyond central Erciş, so they are not part of this short plan. Finding every destination on a map does not mean visiting all of them in one day. Confirm your return journey and current access before setting out.
