Checked on 17 September 2026. The photograph shows the Erciş shoreline, not Mollakasım Beach. This guide is not a live water-quality or beach-opening notice.
Spending time beside the lake
On a short visit, leave time for a lakeside walk and the view. An open stretch beside the water in a photograph is not necessarily an operated or monitored beach. Arrange transport from the centre and back, and keep your plans flexible around the weather.
Çelebibağı, Kasımbağı, Gölağzı and Tekevler
The district describes these shores as places visited by flamingos and other migratory birds. They are worth researching for wildlife observation and photography. Use existing access routes without entering reed beds or approaching bird groups.
These names are not a list of verified swimming beaches. We could not confirm current, site-specific bathing-water results and services for Erciş. A quiet shoreline or clear-looking water alone does not establish suitability for swimming.
A separate beach to research: Mollakasım
Mollakasım Public Beach is in Tuşba district, outside Erciş. Its TÜRÇEV record identifies a public pebble beach and includes dated water analyses. Plan it as a separate journey from Erciş.
The listed season is 15 June–31 August. On our 17 September 2026 check, the table included 2026 samples, while award years were listed through 2025. The record does not confirm that the beach is open or suitable for swimming today. Check current operation and official notices before travelling.
What to check before entering the water
Use the Ministry of Health’s Bathing Water Monitoring System to look for the relevant Van sampling point and latest sample date. If the portal fails to load or the site is absent, ask Van’s provincial health directorate and the beach operator for current information. An assessment in an old travel article does not establish today’s conditions.
Check local warnings, swimming-area boundaries and lifeguard provision too. When travelling with children, ask ahead about access, toilets and shade. If swimming conditions cannot be confirmed, keep the outing to a visit along the shore.
